From Fr. Peter's Desk: 29th March, 2017

This has been a very busy week. On Sunday the 10.00 Mass was a very special moment for the children who will make their confirmation. The sixth classes from St. Olaf’s and Queen of Angels  organised the ‘Breath of Life Mass”. They did the readings, the introduction and reflection, all the prayers of the faithful, they dressed the Altar and rang the bells they even participated in the reading of the Gospel. The commitment of the teachers is very noticeable in preparing the children for this sacrament. The Mass was further enhanced by the participation of the choir.

The 12.45 Mass with the anointing of the Sick was a very touching liturgy. Many members of our community find great spiritual solace in the reception of this sacrament. It was also nice to see elderly members of the community being brought to their Parish by caring neighbours.

President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina, present at the 12.45 Mass for family reasons, were generous with their time as they greeted members of the Parish community.

This Sunday saw the trial- launch of the new parish newsletter , fruit of many efforts in the Parish office. It is in colour, with photographs and the works. The outsourcing of the newsletter to a professional company , not only saves Parish money, but more importantly it saves precious time for the Parish office. Some suggestions have already been made about how to improve the newsletter.

The Finance Committee had an important meeting on Monday night.  It is getting very close to signing off on last year’s accounts. The behind-the-scenes work of this committee is a generous and expert overseeing of the scarce Parish resources.
