BREAKING NEWS: YOUNG VOICES HEARD IN BALALLY PARISH

On Wednesday evening a group of people gathered in the parish to consider the theme of youth ministry in the community.

Josh and Oisin Hills opened the gathering with a presentation on “What it is like to be young in the Ireland of 2019”. They highlighted the role of family, friends and social media in the lives of young people. They underlined the mostly positive experience of being young in Ireland and the tolerance, openness and opportunity there is in our society. They also spoke of some initiatives that might be considered and they answered many questions. It was a special moment to hear young people evaluate what life is like for them.

The group, representing a range of teams in the Parish, went on to share ideas and agreed to gather again in September inviting some other expert voices to join us.

Several aspects were considered: importance of prayer as a basis for any actions, the possibility of beginning a youth mass and learning the NUA project.

These proposals and others will be mused upon over the summer and decided upon at the next gathering.

Many thanks to all who participated … on the hottest day of the year.
