A Word From Father Jim
Many people have asked me since I returned
about life in the monastery. Did I like it? Was it
a big decision to come home? What do I miss?!
So I thought that next week I might write a few reflections
on those topics. In the meantime you might like to have a
look at the Mepkin Abbey website (www.Mepkin abbey.org) to get some idea of my life there.
One of the vows Cistercians take is stability. You stay in the
one place all the time. Many of my friends thought this
would be impossible for me ! I amazed myself by settling
into that routine effortlessly.
Since I came home it’s a big
challenge. Catching up with family and old friends is
beautiful but tiring. Not having a house to live in at Balally
is difficult for the settling in process to the Parish. Please
God that will soon be rectified and I’ll be living among you.
I look forward to that and will keep you posted.
The men are working hard on my house to get it ready.
Keep me in your prayers
Father Jim
