A Word from Fr. Jim: 29th September 2022

A Word from Fr Jim

When I was a Cistercian monk in Mepkin Abbey we had a weekly Desert Day – a quiet day with no activity – and plenty of opportunity to rest, relax and pray.  I miss it – and I need it.  So, I thought – why not do the same in the parish?  This is our first shot at it – and it may change as time goes on.  Starting on Tuesday 4th October, we will have it every Tuesday.

Here is the working programme:

You can dip in and out as it appeals or as you are free.

DESERT DAYS IN BALALLY

10am: Exposition / Rosary, Morning  Prayer/Meditation  (Church)

12.00: Light lunch- Soup for the soul – eat in silence – listen to reading – (As in Monastery, Pastoral Centre)

1.30:  Take a hike/ a walk in the garden, a look at a book, or a walk with a soul friend (Meet at Pastoral Centre)

7.30pm: Contemplative Eucharist: Taize Music, Lectio  Divina,  Meditation including  school of meditation (For those wishing to learn how to meditate (Pastoral Centre, Lane Room) we will teach you the way of Christian meditation

Join us for some or part of our Desert Days, beginning Tuesday October 4th 2022.

With my Love & Blessing Fr Jim
