A Word from Fr Jim: 3rd November 2022

A Word from Fr Jim
Many of us in the parish are growing older.
At 65 I’m taking on a new job, when my classmates from UCD days are retiring. Retirement, eldering, aging, sickness are all part of our experience, also a challenge.
One great spiritual path facing us all, says the brilliant spiritual writer, Ronald Rolheiser is to prepare for our own death and see what legacy we want to leave.
I am deeply touched by the bonds that exist between grandparents and grandchildren.
When I was a Youth Director and curate in Rathmines,
We set up a lay community (St Egidio and later St Paul’s Arran Quay.)
We forged great bonds between the young members and the community, elderly friends in Rathmines and St Mary’s Hospital in the Phoenix Park.
I believe that in Building Hope by meditation and service we can continue to forge these
important bonds between young and the not so young.
Here are a few key dates as we start this journey.

With My Love and Blessing
Fr Jim
