From The Pastor's Desk: 13th May 2016

summer-tulipsThe Parish Pastoral Council had its monthly meeting. This meeting of the PPC is where the concerns and views of the parishioners are aired as well as being the forum for planning and plotting. Important issues about the future of the Parish, changes in child protection procedures, and upcoming events were discussed at length. Some of the points made at the Deanery meeting were also reported on (The Deanery meeting is a gathering of all the priests and pastoral workers of the area including Bray, Enniskerry, Sandyford etc)

Ascension Sunday, our parish Feast Day, was celebrated again this year. Holey-Donuts were consumed with great gusto in the Parish centre after the Masses and many parishioners got a chance to sit down and chat with fellow Mass goers. The Theology of the Donut was mooted in the homily and will surely become the theme of a new book.

There was a great flurry of activity around the Parish as rehearsals took place for the participation of the Confirmation children in the Pentecost Mass, the preparation of the First aid course, the continued upgrading of the Parish Centre and gardens …. and all the other prayer and formation events that are ongoing.

The 400 club has informed that after the recent report back to the congregation on the workings of the club many new members have signed up … one of the organisers commented. “We weren’t expecting such a response, we must report back more often”

The recent concert of the Celtic Choristers held in benefit of the “Men’s Shed”  and other groups was a resounding success.

Funny … not so funny:

“Life is short … so smile while you still have teeth”

Did you ever hear the like?

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” St. Thomas Aquinas
