Mass for Sir David Amess MP:

The Ceann Comhairle, Seán Ó Fearghail, will lead members of the Oireachtas attending Mass for the late Sir David Amess MP in St Teresa’s Church, Clarendon St, at 12.45 p.m. , Thursday 21st October 2021.

The British Ambassador, Paul Johnston, and the Australian Ambassador, Gary Gray, will attend. Mr Johnston will address the congregation after Holy Communion.

The Mass will be celebrated by Fr Vincent O’Hara OCD, a member of the Carmelite Community in St Teresa’s, Clarendon St.

The Ceann Comhairle will deliver the First Reading at the Mass, and prayers of intercession will be led by TDs and Senators from different parties and groups in the Oireachtas.

The hymns during the ceremony will reflect Irish and British traditions, and will include compositions by Ronan McDonagh (Organist and Director of Music at St Teresa’s), St John Henry Newman’s ‘Lead, Kindly Light’ and Charles Wesley’s ‘Jesus, Lover of my Soul’. The Cantor for the occasion will be Ms. Méav Ní Mhaolchatha.
