News from Balally: 6th November 2020

The song goes ‘no one knows what goes on behind closed doors’ but here in Balally Parish there has been lots going
on ‘behind closed doors’ over the months during the lockdown and the different phases of the Covid-19
pandemic.

In the springtime, work began on removing the old leylandii trees that surrounded the parish centre and
have been replaced by a new fence. The area now looks much brighter.

Another project which is still ongoing is the replacement of lights in the Church. The old lights had become dull and have been replaced by new more energy efficient LED lights. This project will be concluded in the coming weeks and already the church is looking much brighter.

We are longing for the day when the parish centre will ring out again with laughter, when the coffee pot is bubbling over once more and the calling out of ‘pick and mix’, ‘two fat ladies’ or ‘legs eleven’ of the bingo caller on
Friday evenings returns. When our parishioners return to Mass and parish activities it will be a brighter
centre.

William, our maintenance man, is currently making his way through the centre with buckets of paint, paint
brushes and rollers and is doing a fabulous job.

Mass continues to be streamed live on our webpage every Friday (10am), Saturday (7pm) and Sunday (10am)(www.balallyparish.ie/live). Our Mass Readings and Homilies are now available on all the major podcasting services; Google, iTunes, TuneIn, Stitcher, Spotify etc; just search for Balally Parish on these apps/platforms. Please “tune-in”!

We have had many messages of thanks from parishioners and followers home and abroad, which helps keep our spirits up.
