The Parish responded immediately to the tragic events of the week by signing Mass cards and condolence sheets for all who lost their lives so tragically in Carrickmines. These cards and condolence sheets were sent to the grieving families through their chaplain, Fr. Derek.
Balally also assisted Sandyford Parish at the events of remembrance that took place around Carrick mines.
On Saturday the new Parish Pastoral Council received an introductory workshop, directed by an expert in the field: Donal Harrington.
As well as giving clear ideas about the role and the workings of a PPC, Donal guided the process which named new Chairpersons and Secretaries. Having begun in prayer the day ended with a shared and joyful meal in the Parish Centre.
On Tuesday the members of the Altar Society had their periodic meeting. The distribution of responsibilities for the year was agreed and practical details were aired. (This is the society that ensures that each Mass is prepared and runs smoothly. The Parish just couldn’t function without their commitment…. they are so important we even had the tea in China cups)
