The Week That Was @ Balally Parish

This Week: As you have seen there is a lot going on in the Parish. The decorations around you, the Jesse tree, the Advent Wreath and candles will probably make you suspect that Christmas is coming. But this is not all that is going on, there is also Advent, Morning prayer at 07.00 every morning, decorations in the Parish Pastoral centre and many other activities. Carol Services, Jam sales … parties.

All this is done by the many volunteers who keep our community going. You will also have noticed that a strange pathway has appeared near the parking places in front of the Church. … It is not just a pathway (indicating the journey of grief), it is not just a question mark (hinting to all the questions we ask when we face tragic death), it is also an arm embracing the tree of hope… a tree that will remember all those who have died in our parish in difficult or tragic circumstances.

This project, the first initiated by the new Parish Pastoral Council (and executed by some very hardworking members of the maintenance team), will be inaugurated on 8th December after the 13.10 Mass to mark the beginning of the Year of Mercy. (There are one or two other mysteries hidden around the tree of hope.. you will have to have a look) Ceremonies of light, liturgy meetings, hospitality and many other activities have taken place over the last week.
