The Week That Was @ Balally Parish

Oh so many things are happening in the Parish … let’s get to it.

Of course we had the Conference on the Pope’s encyclical which was quiet an event. As one of the participants commented at the end of the conference “it just has turned my way of thinking on its head” Poems, laments, music, questions and conferences (all fuelled by tea, sandwiches & goodies) were fitting tribute to the challenges and thoughtful reflections that Pope Francis posed in his “Laudato Si”. (See here for more information)

Then on Monday we had the parish assembly. Sean Mac Giolla Fhearga Chair, reported on the activities of the Parish Pastoral Council over the last few years (and what a wonderful and active council it has been) then people were free to ask questions and suggest ideas for the future workings of the Parish. Lastly the new parish council was formed (a leaflet with the names, profiles, team affiliations and other important information on the new members will be published soon).

Wednesday evening saw the first meeting of the volunteer parents of this year’s first Holy Communion Children who will organize the “Do This In Memory Programme” this year.. All these events running in harmony with all the normal Parish activities and Pastoral Centre programmes and as the Church roof is being repaired…..
