Ever wonder how our altarbreads are made? Wonder no more……they are made just a stones throw from our church!
Carmelite Sisters live an enclosed contemplative life, and provide for themselves by manual work. Here in Kilmacud we make our living by producing altarbreads (hosts) for use in churches around Dublin and elsewhere. This short video, made in late 2015 by student Elena Horgan features our community here at Kilmacud and Fr Joe Birmingham OCD. You will see the entire process of how we produce altarbreads – from flour and water until the hosts are used at Mass! We are very grateful to Elena for her filming, editing and production work to allow us share this video with you!
The Sisters have daily Mass, and more, in their monastery, on the Lower Kilmacud Road. Visit them sometime. Details here.
