On Saturday 2 April Charlie Bird will be climbing Croagh Patrick in solidarity with people who have Motor Neuron Disease . As you know Charlie himself is in the advanced stages of this very painful illness.
Charlie has asked people to walk in solidarity with him on the day . We are going to do our little bit here in the parish.
Our walk is one that can be done by young and old alike.Gathering in the church at 11am on Saturday 2nd we will start with a song from the young people and a blessing from Fr Dermot and myself and some of the local Christian clergy. We will walk from the church to Balawley Park and around it ( about 40 minutes in all ) . We will be led by our 2 school principals, Ms Avila Donegan and Mr John Murtagh. There is a voluntary donation of 5 euro which is payable at the door and will be divided between Charley’s charities, Motor Neuron and Pieta House.
The children and young people from Queen of Angels , St Olafs , St Tiernans, Wesley , St Benildus and Muckross Park are coming. It’s a walk for all ages. Why not invite your children , adult children and grandchildren to come and make it a family and parish day to remember.
