From Fr. Peter's Desk: 27th January 2017

Some very interesting events have taken place in the Parish over the last week.

For the first time all the children receiving sacraments gathered at the Family Mass. The Confirmation Children prayed for the Communion children as the whole congregation prayed for those who will receive the sacraments. The event required the coordination of three schools, 7 classes, the Family Mass team, the DTIM team, the Junior Choir, the Reader’s club as well as the Altar Society. It was a lovely moment in our history.

The Maintenance team took over on Monday afternoon and prepared the walls for the restoration of the Stations of the Cross. The granite had to be scrubbed and the walls cleaned. Watch out for the coming of the stations…..

On Thursday night, blustery and windy as it was, another milestone was reached. The Parish Councils of Sandyford Parish and Balally Parish gathered to share a meal and thoughts. The event was hosted in Balally Pastoral Centre and signposts the gradual coming together of the two Parishes.

The PPC’s are a wealth of talent, enthusiasm and experience and help guide the Parishes direction as well as making sure that the voices of the parishioners are heard when important decisions are being made. Besides sharing a lovely meal there were informal conversations about events in both parishes.
