In spite of the holiday weather there is still a great effervescence of
activity around the parish. A meeting was held with the families who are
going to host our American visitors from 21st to 31st of July.
The PPC (parish pastoral council) had its last meeting before the summer
break. Again the whole issue of Garda vetting was discussed in detail and a
new round of Garda vetting was decided upon. The PPC is determined to
continue with best practice in this area and to help all volunteers to go
through the process. Of course the parish party and the events around Fr.
Lanes 50th anniversary were also discussed briefly at the PPC as they
continue to be the talk of the parish. A group will review the whole event
and keep a memory of it for future reference (especially for when we
organize Fr. Lane’s 75th anniversary)
The sale of the ‘History of Balally Parish & Community Book’ is going well.
Another highlight of this week were the graduations in our two schools. In
accordance with the ethos of the schools the graduation takes place with a
Mass or a prayer service in thanksgiving for the years the children have
spent in St. Olaf’s and Queen of Angels.
