Care
We in the parish of Balally take the safety of children very seriously. We adhere to the best practices of Safeguarding Principles drawn from the Diocesan Safeguarding Guideline. The two key areas are:
- no child is ever left alone with an adult
- all adults working with children and youth have been Garda vetted
See here for fuller detail on our Safeguarding Procedures
The Youth Loft
The youth loft is a space where children are welcomed, just as they are, formally on Sunday morning after mass and informally throughout the week.
It is our aspiration that, through being part of the youth loft, children of all ages will come to know that they are God’s Beloved, that their authentic self is made in the image of God, and therefore is good.
What takes place?
After the 10am Sunday Mass, from 10:45 to 11:30 approx., each Sunday, there will be story time arising from the Scripture of that day.
What is needed?
Our youth worker, Emma Livingston, worked with us over the past year in building up our Youth Ministry and the Youth Loft.
Working along with the parish team, they journeyed with an extraordinary group of young people making their First Communion and another group making their Confirmation. It is our hope that, in the coming months, many of these will be part of our youth group.
Our focus now is to build a Youth Ministry team to build on the seeds set by Emma. Anybody interested in being part of this team can contact Brendan at balallypastoralcentre@gmail.com or the parish office: balallyparish@gmail.com
