Jesus did not hesitate to cure sick people on the Sabbath, knowing he was being judged by the self-righteous Pharisees and lawyers. We should be slow to judge others.

The feast of St. Matthew, tax collector and Apostle. Jesus said “I came to call sinners, not the virtuous”. God chose the Jewish people to be an example to other peoples in the world of the greatness and goodness of God. We today must also be an example to others of that same God.
