From Fr. Peter's Desk, 12th December, 2017

This Week :
The best aerobics, the best Christmas Carols, the best school singing, the
Leinster Orchestra .. it all happened on Sunday afternoon in the Parish
Carol service.

‘The Twelve days of Christmas’ ended a wonderful hour and truly created the
Christmas spirit. Adults and children alike left with a big smile.

But many other things were going on in the Parish!

The ever well supported St.
Vincent de Paul Society Christmas collection took place at Masses. The
children’s sheep moved a little closer to Bethlehem and the Jesse tree was
again highlighted at the 10.00 Family Mass.

During the week the confirmation children from Queen of Angels and St.
Olaf’s
had their “Ceremony of Light”, that most meaningful moment when parents
hand on
the light of faith to their children symbolised in the Baptismal candle.
The children also made very solemn commitments about the use of drugs and
alcohol.

The liturgy committee had their Christmas preparation meeting and detailed
the liturgical celebrations that will be had at Christmas. Members of the
Maintenance
Team reviewed the Church and Parish Centre and made 88 recommendations of
things that need fixing or cleaning as well as some safety suggestions.

Staff from the Parish Pastoral Centre shared a lovely Christmas night out
and
the ESB (Envelope Stuffing Brigade) were in full swing getting the
Christmas cards
ready for sending.

The Advent Morning Prayer has continued in the cold, the wet and in the
frost.
It offers wonderful moments of prayer and reflection during the busy days
leading up
to Christmas.

Fr. Peter’s worst Christmas Jokes:
Q. What does December have that other months don’t have?

A. The letter D.

Christmas Bonus Joke:

Four-year-old to her two-year-old sister: “Let’s play Christmas. I’ll be
Santa Claus and you can be a present and I’ll give you away.”
