From Fr. Peter's Desk, 16th May, 2018

The Feast of the Ascension is the feast day of our Parish. It is a mobile
feast, occurring forty days after Easter. Here in the Parish we marked the
day by gathering in the Parish
Centre after each Mass and sharing a cup of tea with our neighbours …and of
course by eating a Holy Donut. We also had a lovely concert in the evening
with the presence of
the Leinster Orchestra and the extended parish choir.

A special feature of this year’s feast was the signing of a Parish letter
of invitation to Pope Francis. Members of the Pastoral Council were outside
Masses and hundreds of
people have signed the letter. (There is still time to sign before the
letter is sent to Rome).

These events took place as a result of much preparation and behind the
scenes generosity, including child protection meetings, board of management
meetings, finance meetings, deanery meetings, liturgy meeting. As we
celebrate the feast of our Parish we thank all of those people who have
given it life and sustained it over the years.

Quote from Pope Francis:

I see clearly that the thing the church needs most today is the ability to
heal wounds and to warm the hearts of the faithful; it needs nearness,
proximity.
