This Week:
Come, thou Father of the poor,
Come, with treasures which endure;
Come, thou Light of all that live!
Thou, of all consolers best,
Thou, the soul’s delightful guest,
Dost refreshing peace bestow.
Thou in toil art comfort sweet;
Pleasant coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
And so read two of the Confirmation Children in the family Mass. They were reading the Sequence from Pentecost. In fact, confirmation children assisted in the Mass as readers, acolytes, preparing the Altar and …. reading this ancient prayer calling on the Holy Spirit. The Confirmation Programme ended with this Mass and the children will now be invited to join the Reader’s club.
Easter was coming to an end; the fifty days of celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord; the holiest time of the year. We finished in the afternoon with a wonderful concert from the choir and from The Phoenix orchestra a very fitting end to a wonderful period in our Parish life. We also had our Volunteer party on Friday night with the secret Denis&Pauline recipe for the best burgers in the world. It was such a joy just to sit and chat with the people who keep the Parish going with their time and talents.
The Readers club members had their last meeting before the summer break. Sister Therese assisted to answer any Biblical questions and of course Pizza had to be shared.
But the Parish is already getting ready for next year. A preliminary calendar of events was examined by the Parish Council as were initiatives on Youth Ministry in their final meeting before the summer.
