From Fr. Peter’s Desk: 30th July, 2019

This Week: 17th Week of Ordinary Time

Yes it’s holiday time and many parishioners are away enjoying the beauty of God’s Creation. We also have had many visitors in the Parish. Recently a couple from Kilkenny were at Mass on their way to Croke Park for the hurling but there were also people from Limerick and Tipp … so the Parish Centre was declared a hurling neutral zone and the United Nations peace keepers were put on alert.

Two important meetings were held over the last few days. The first was the finance committee who set about to review the accounts and ascertain that best practices were being followed and that the parishioners money was been properly administered. The second meeting was a Buildings Committee meeting. This group, responsible for the building of the Parish Centre, met to oversee the process of the fixing of the roof of the Parish Centre which was damaged in the winter storms. The members also discussed the steps to be taken to insulate the church.

These behind the scenes groups are among the very dedicated people who keep the Parish functioning.

We were joined on Sunday by Fr Noel O Meara from the Holy Ghost fathers who delivered a much commented homily and appealed for help for the many projects that his congregation are overseeing in the third world. The heart-felt nature of the homily touched all who were at the Sunday liturgies.
