From Father Peter’s Desk: 8th February 2020

Over the last while we have had some marvellous moments in the Parish. There was a huge turnout for the first ever Mass of Generations. Children who will participate in first Communion and Confirmation came with their parents and grandparents to 10.00 Mass. The occasion highlighted the Mass as a place of families and the family as the natural place where the faith is transmitted. We have also had a visit of some of the classes who will be making their confirmation in May.

The Parish Pastoral Council had its meeting this week. Again it discussed issues that are brought up by parishioners . The PPC also considered the future of the community. What has to be done?

How do we engage the younger generations? How do we manage with less clergy available? How can we integrate more closely with Sandyford?

The CCTV system has been updated for the security and protection of our parishioners and staff. All this effort is thanks to the generosity of the community which thorough the 400 Club, the Family offering and donations, help to maintain and upgrade the Parish.

The 400 club reported on activities this week and new members joined the club which is getting close to a record high membership.

The monthly meeting of the Reader’s Club took place and had a workshop in the Church as well as programming the readings for next month. The first meeting in preparation of a young people’s mission to Guatemala was had. We also had several suggestions for the living of Lent in the Parish and these will be published in the next few days.
